Gareth Spanglett
I am a licensed lawyer and a cybersecurity and data governance professional. My work sits at the intersection of law and technology, with research and writing focused on AI regulation, privacy, and the legal questions raised by emerging technologies.
I hold a Juris Doctor from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa, and completed my articles at the Samuelson-Glushko Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC).
I have been working with and building AI systems since 2015 — including custom GPTs and multi-agent, multi-model tooling — which informs how I approach the governance questions I write about.
I live in Carp, Ontario, just outside Ottawa, with my wife and two children.
